Dust Unto Dust has been likened to a gay Dances with Wolves in its depiction of Native Americans as noble and heroic, and in holding out the possibility of two cultures and peoples learning and benefiting from sharing.

Damon Rosi portrays a white settler on Indian land who grows up lonely and isolated and bereft of love. One day he is discovered by two beautiful Indian s (No Name, a half-breed, and young Broken Wing) who themselves have been left behind by their nomadic tribe because of their homosexuality. Any good movie requires a suspension of disbelief, and though we know how gays or two-spirited pers are honored and cherished in Native-American culture, it is a small adjustment to make for the lavish and moving tale that unfolds.
